Meagan in her favorite new chair Posted by Hello

Daddy and Meagan Posted by Hello

First Doctors appointment

Meagan just got back from her first trip to the pediatrician and all is well. Her color is still a little yellow, but of no concern and she has been packing in the calories! She is up to 7 pounds 1 ounce already - I thought my arm was getting tired! She got through it all well, now if we can just get her to sleep at night instead of the day, we will be in great shape.

1st Night Home

Last night was a little rough. Meagan was not too interested in sleeping, so we took turns trying to keep her calm. We think she may just be adjusting to the new environment and the new things in her belly. Today (Saturday) has gone pretty smoothly, however, we are still wondering how the overnight will go. We're feeling a little sleep deprived, but that's OK. We'll get her straightened out soon! No new pictures today, but hopefully we'll get some new ones up soon.

Here she is! Meagan Elizabeth Raubenolt on her birthday Posted by Hello

Meagan Elizabeth comes home

It has been a crazy, wonderful couple of days. The 22nd proved to be the true start of our baby's journey out to say hello to the world. She arrived finally at 7:58 am on February 23rd weighing in at 6 pounds, 13 ounces and measuring 19 inches with a generous crop of dark hair. Both baby and momma are doing great aside from being a bit tired. We are now adjusting to life together as family - and decidedly less sleep. Meagan is a good eater and adjusted to nursing very quickly. She will regularly eat for over 30 minutes at a time. Mom and dad are quickly learning that we will need to purchase diapers in bulk - why she likes to go just after a new diaper is applied is a mystery to me. We have both become quick studies in the art of diapering and swaddling. Her response to being swaddled when crying is like flipping a switch - instant dreamland. We will all spend the next week and a half getting to know one another before daddy has to go back to work. After that, it is mommy daughter time until the end of May.

Meagan still cooking on New Years Posted by Hello

Labor begins

Jen awoke at midnight today with tell tale signs of early labor. Of course, we had no idea until later in the day that these were actually labor pains, but right now we are pretty sure. They are coming in about one every 10 minutes and becoming a bit "distressing" to mom to be. A trip to the doctor this morning sent us back home to wait for labor to intensify. Doc did say that if we were not at the hospital by tomorrow to come in any way and she will speed delivery along. It won't be long now! Looks like a February baby.

Preparing for baby's arrival

Hello - this is it. Little she-critter will be born any day and get an official name. Come back in often to get updates on Jen's progress, hopefully photos (if I can figure that part out) and day to day updates on our little one's development and activities.
